Postwar “log cabin” cliches defined the original house; the 1990s addition was bland and suburban. With a minor change to the footprint, we reimagined the house and played with the cabin vocabulary to create a whimsical, modern space with sweeping lake views, a warm palette, and plenty of uncluttered storage for the family and their fortunate and frequent guests.
