This historic restoration project involved the sensitive updating of a 1913 Prairie style home for its second-ever owner, a stalwart admirer of early 20th-century decorative arts and architecture. The house had retained much of its original condition, providing an ideal foundation for a preservation-focused renovation.
Interiors Architecture
Key original elements, such as the porch, living room, and portions of the kitchen cabinetry, were carefully preserved. New additions—including art glass windows, a period-style dressing room, and a custom reading nook—were designed in harmony with the home’s original architecture. In the kitchen, an updated color palette and functional upgrades freshen the room and coordinate with the adjacent spaces. New bathrooms were created using tile details authentic to the era, with custom glaze colors tailored to the client’s aesthetic.
Restored antique and bespoke custom elements reinforce the original historic style and character throughout the house. The result is a cohesive and respectful transformation that honors the home's legacy while embracing the personality of its new steward.
